Information to know about custom orders.

When placing an order there are many things to take into consideration for pricing. This information is meant to help take away sticker shock for those interested in having custom airbrush art work done.

When pricing a job we first need to consider the cost of designing whatever project lays before us. Face it a good design makes a difference in the end product. Take into consideration going to a tool and die shop and asking for a custom part to be made on their machines. The fist step is for them to have a design drawn up for visual reference and specs for that product. So too holds true for art work. We need to create a good design to work from.

The next step is the set-up of the job we are partaking in. All these things range from matting down of fibers on a T-shirt to taping and scuffing of a helmet. All to give the best surface for painting on. It also includes the mixing of color, preparing of airbrushes and tools needed for this project.

The next is the actual painting of you project which can include drawing out the design, masking off the surface, cutting stencils and more. The painting of the project also may include the layering of multiple colors to create a clean and colorful piece of art work that has dimension contrast and all other things that make up great art.

Next we need to consider the finishing cost of a project. This can be as simple as heat setting a T-Shirt to the clear coating of an automotive design and the wet sanding and buffing out of that surface. Now when I speak of heat setting that will also include the electricity used for running the heat press, or even the electricity just to run the compressor.

The final part of pricing includes the time spent painting, searching for the perfect reference photos and the last thing needed for airbrushing that is always not thought of, which is the cost of maintenance of equipment and clean up.

As you can see there are a lot of things to consider in the pricing of art work that you will be proud to display for years to come. I hope this has helped to bring to mind the many things that come into play when one determines the price of airbrushed artwork.
